Wake Up and Warm Up with a Super Beverage: Tea

The weather has changed and thoughts of cozy things abound: soft fleece blankets, a crackling fire, a hot cup of tea. Tea is not steaming cup of teajust cozy— it’s healthy too. Tea’s ingredients actually protect you against some deadly diseases including heart disease and cancer. Scientists have also discovered that tea can boost your immune system, stave off cavities, strengthen bones and sharpen concentration.

Tea is the infusion of the tea plant, Camellia sinensis: a Southeast Asian evergreen shrub. Camellia sinensis leaves are used to make black, green and oolong teas, as well as the pale, pricey white tea that is prized in China for its delicate taste and fragrance. These teas might vary in aroma and fragrance, but they’re all healthy. The bottom line is, drink any flavor, but keep drinking tea!

Whole Leaf Tea is Bestwhole leaf tea

I recently found a wonderful website that sells specialty teas: Indonique.com. They sell whole leaf teas, which are actually better quality; the tea comes direct from the gardens to your cup, making it more flavorful than traditional tea bags. Whole leaf tea is also more economical because it’s so concentrated. AND, the efficient packaging process and lack of tea bags creates a lower carbon imprint.

Indonique offers a wide variety of exotic blends like the Rose Congou that Jude Law ordered when he was in their New Orleans Café. Their Vanilla Chai uses 7 spices: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg powder, cardamom pods, whole cloves, whole black pepper and Bourbon Madagascar powder (the real, very expensive deal!) Moroccan Mint is a house blend that uses spearmint and peppermint leaf in organically grown Chinese Gunpowder Green Tea.

But my favorite Indonique tea is Honey Bush Herbal. Organically grown in South Africa, it’s loaded with antioxidants, but contains no caffeine. As its name suggests, it has a light, sweet honey flavor all on its own— no need to add anything!

Stock Your Cupboard with Healthy Delicious Tea and Help Others at the Same Time

Indonique has a great story. Their brick and mortar café, sadly, was a victim of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. But thanks to the Internet, they can continue to make all their products available to tea lovers in just about any corner of the world. And despite their troubles, Indonique helps others with their T42 program: 10% of every sale is donated to the people who pick their teas through international non-profit organizations.

So, if you love tea and want to contribute to a good cause, visit Indonique.com.
